Frequently asked questions

What should I expect during a visit?

Visits are guided based on service type, but with each 1:1 visit, expect to go deep! I like to maximize information and provide tools and resources. It can be a good idea to have a pen and paper at the ready, but a detailed synopsis of our discussion will also be provided following each visit. Be ready to learn about yourself, and about the choices you make and how they impact your health!

How is the Genetic testing done?

A nutrigenetic test kit will be sent to your preferred mailing address. Collection is via a swab that you will rub firmly along the inside of your cheeks.

Results are processed and available within 4-6 weeks.

Is my data safe?

Data privacy is a top priority. The lab I use will treat your data with the rigor and integrity your genes deserve. Their practices, procedures, policies, and technology are designed to safeguard your privacy and health data.

All information and connections are encrypted using SSL and they follow best practices that align with HIPAA and POPI standards.

Do you offer primary care services?

No. I am not a primary care provider. I can work with your doctor, but not in place of your doctor.

Think of me as your Health Sherpa - walking along side you, supporting the work you are doing, and helping you understand and navigate both your internal terrain and external environment to help make your health-oriented work less taxing while you engage in the diagnostic care provided by other conventional, holistic and/or alternative medical providers to reach your desired health mountain peak.

Can you Prescribe medications?

I do not routinely prescribe medications. My focus is on supporting the natural ecosystem of your body by harmonizing your cellular response utilizing natural therapies.

If peptides or bio-identical hormones are utilized, I can prescribe them if necessary.

Any other medications are not provided through my care and must be managed by your other providers.

Do you make diagnosis’?

I do not diagnosis or manage disease directly.

I educate, inform and empower you in knowing where the disease risks come from, and help you to shift the imbalance and improve your overall health.

It is important for you to maintain the services of a primary care provider for traditionally recommended ‘standard of care’ annual tests, chronic medical issues that I do not treat, or for you to be able to be seen by your doctor for medical and mental health emergency services.

Do You bill health insurance?

No, I do not accept or bill insurance.

Payment for service is expected at the time of the service. We accept cash, personal check and major bank cards, as well as Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Accounts.

I am able to provide you with a Superbill, which you can submit to your insurance directly to see if reimbursement is offered. This is not a guarantee of coverage.

Please note that I am not contracted with Medicare so cannot give a super bill to Medicare patients.

Can you write lab orders through my insurance?

Most functional labs do not take insurance, so expect to pay out-of-pocket for most recommended labs. However, you can always call the lab and request a Superbill, which you can then submit to your insurance to see if they can cover some or all of that cost (this is not a guarantee of coverage). I cannot do this part for you, as the lab must hear from the patient directly.

Costs for testing, prescriptions and supplements are charged not by me, but will come to you by the lab, pharmacy or supplement company providing the product or service I recommend. I am not able to provide direct guidance here, but you, as the insured, are able to call your insurance company for assistance if needed.

do you See children?

No. At this time I do not treat anyone under the age of 21.

Please be mindful:

I am not available for 24/7 or after hours ‘on call’ coverage.

I ask that you call 911, or your primary care physician on-call for acute care or emergency service.
